'Alphabet Soup’ of Supplements for Bodily Health: 'U’ & ‘V’ Supplements

Published by Wonder Laboratories on Sep 25th 2026

Welcome back to our ongoing ‘Alphabet Soup’ series in which we run through the alphabet, A to Z one letter (or sometimes two, like this blog) at a time. In doing this, we pick out supplements beginning with a certain letter and give a brief assessment of what they are and how they can benefit your health. In this manner, we either introduce you to or refresh your knowledge of particularly helpful natural remedies. This time, we look at three natural remedies beginning with either ‘U’ or ‘V.’

3 ‘U’ and ‘V’ Products for You to View

Ubiquinol is a compound utilized throughout the body, and it is available as an oral supplement. It is a primary and reduced form of the coenzyme CoQ10. In fact, it is the most common form of CoQ10 in the bloodstream. Bodily forms of this compound are present and active in the heart, liver, kidneys, and elsewhere. Two of ubiquinol’s primary roles in the body are its contribution to the production of ATP for cellular energy and protecting cells from oxidative stress. Taking ubiquinol could provide multiple therapeutic benefits, most of which can be achieved by taking 200mg twice daily, with food. The most notable benefits of this supplement are related to heart health, namely for aiding recovery in those who’ve experienced heart failure. It has also been shown to be helpful in managing diabetes, reducing migraine symptoms, and improving skin health as a person ages.

Valerin is an herbal complex supplement named after its main herbal ingredient, valerian. The valerian root has the ability to benefit sleep, and has also shown the ability to reduce anxiety and stress. Valerian helps sleep in multiple ways: the most recognized way is by increasing the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter related to sleep and found in the brain. Separately, the anti-anxiety effects of valerian are significant. It is a preferable alternative to benzodiazepines, which are frequently prescribed for anxiety, but which can have significant pharmaceutical side effects. Consider a Valerin supplement for its main active ingredient, as well as its other beneficial ingredients, passiflora and magnesium carbonate.

Vanadyl sulfate is a compound not often found in supplement form, yet which is still occasionally helpful as a natural remedy for some people. It is a supplemental form of vanadium, an element considered an ultra-trace element for human consumption. This means that it is necessary in supporting your health, but only in very small amounts. The primary reason to take a vanadyl sulfate is to recoup for a vanadium deficiency. The exact uses of vanadium in the body are unclear. However, at least one study suggests that it could be useful for managing type 2 diabetes.

These three ‘U’ and ‘V’ supplements can be useful in strategic ways. This is certainly the case for ubiquinol and Valerin, while vanadyl sulfate is recommended only in rare circumstances. Consider whether these could be of benefit to you or someone in your household. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking any supplement for the first time to make sure they are suitable and safe for you and any health conditions specific to you, such as prescription medications you might already be on.
